Please Join Us on Friday, January 30, 2015 for our Open House and Winter Concert!

Mrs. Alo has been working very hard with all of the kids at Foundations Christian School in Big Flats, NY, and this is an event you won't want to miss!

The evening will begin at 6:30 with an Open House. This is the perfect time for you to come and talk with your children's teachers and check out any projects they've been working on in class. If you're thinking about enrolling your kids in the school, this is a great event for you too! You can take a look inside of our classrooms, talk with our staff, and get all of your questions answered.

At 7:30, we'll begin our Winter Concert, and the kids have been preparing something really special for this night.

In case you haven't heard, we're excited to welcome some new teachers to Foundations Christian School! 

The months of December and January were quite busy for us, and we made some pretty big changes. We bid farewell to Mrs. Maynard as a full-time teacher for our older students, and we redesigned our classroom structure quite a bit. Preschool is now separate, and our teacher, Miss Sherri is doing a wonderful job with them!

Miss Emma now oversees Kindergarten, first grade and second grade. She has her hands full, and her kids just love her. 

Miss Cassandra is the new teacher for our third through eighth grade students. This is a new experience for her, but she's doing a great job! 

We are so fortunate and blessed to have these amazing women as a part of the staff at Foundations Christian School.

Prayer is such an important part of a healthy, growing Christian life, and at Foundations Christian School, we believe it's vital to teach our kids how to pray. As parents, you have the most important job of all! However, many parents don't know how they should demonstrate to their kids the importance of prayer, or how to do it. We'd like to help. 

1. Explain What Prayer Is - Kids understand things when we can break them down and make them simple. Tell your kids that because God is our friend, we should talk to Him just like we talk to any of our friends. Let them know that they can come to God with any problem they're facing, but that it's also important to just thank Him for things like our families and friends. 
2. Include Prayer Time as a Family Activity - Do you pray as a family? You should! Praying as a family helps your kids understand that prayer really is (or should be) a part of our everyday lives. Make sure you let your kids know when prayers have been answered too, so they can see the power of God in your family's life. 
3. Model Prayer for Your Child - Kids are watching everything we do as parents, so it's important for us to model the right behaviors. Pray in front of your kids, do your devotions in front of them, and sing praise songs in the kitchen when they're around. If you do, they'll want to do it too!

It's been a wonderful 2014 at Foundations Christian School in Big Flats, NY, and we're excited to see what 2015 is going to bring! 

You've probably heard many people talking about what they're going to do differently this year. New Year's resolutions are a big thing, and we're excited to hear what some of yours are. We'd also like to encourage you to take this passage to heart for 2015:

Matthew 6:33: Seek first the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.

Are you seeking God's Kingdom above everything else for your life? We hope so, and we're praying that you do!
