It's hard to believe that we're in the final week of school for Foundations Christian School! It has been a phenomenal year full of fun and learning for our kiddos.
We'd like to thank everyone who came out to our 50's Night fundraiser this past weekend. Your support makes such a difference, and we're thrilled that you came and enjoyed some time with us. Before we know it, the new school year will be upon us. We're eagerly anticipating enrolling some new students for next year. We're thankful for the support of Big Flats Wesleyan Church. They have graciously allowed us (and invited us!) to continue on as a part of their building. For now, it's almost time to break for the summer and enjoy some time with our families. What are your plans this summer? If you're reading this and you've been thinking about Christian school for your kids, Foundations Christian School would be a great place for them! God is the center of everything we do, and our teachers and staff are wholly invested in helping your kids grow in their education and in their walks with God. Please contact us if you'd like more information about Foundations Christian School for the upcoming school year. Have an amazing summer!

Maybe Common Core curriculum is driving both you and your child crazy. Maybe you're a Christian family and your child's school's values don't always line up with your own. Maybe you're just searching for a solid, Christian education for your son or daughter. No matter what your reasons are, Foundations Christian School is eager to talk with you! We're hosting an Open House that is specifically for new families who want to get more information about the school for the 2015-2016 school year. This event will be held on May 18, 2015 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at Big Flats Wesleyan Church in Big Flats, NY. Please click here for our school's address. Our teachers will be on hand to talk to you about the school and what you can expect when you choose FSC. You'll also have the opportunity to see our classrooms and meet our administrators. Now is a great time to make your school decisions for next year and we're so excited about all that God has been doing at Foundations Christian School over the past few years. Next year is sure to be better than ever, and we would love for your family to be a part of our growth. If you'd like to talk to one of our administrators, or if you have questions, please contact us! See you at Open House! *If you are a current FSC family, no attendance is required, but please! Tell all of your friends and spread the word!* The continuation of Common Core has many Christian parents wondering if a secular, public education is the right thing for their children. Perhaps you're in a similar situation and you've been wondering the same thing. Here at Foundations Christian School in Big Flats, NY, we understand your concerns. We can help you.
If you're considering making a change for the upcoming 2015-2016 school year, this is the perfect time to get more information about Foundations Christian School. We would love to have you pay us a visit and look around while you're here. You'll quickly notice that the children are very much like a family. They enjoy helping each other and they appreciate the friendships they've made with one another. The other thing you'll notice is our caring staff. We choose our teachers very carefully, and each one was hand-picked because he or she had a heart for the children. The students love their teachers, and it's easy to see why! Finally, you'll notice that a love for God permeates everything we do at FCS. We have prayer time, chapel services, and the children are taught to do everything they do for the glory of God. That makes for a wonderful learning environment for them! If you'd like more information about what a Christian education would look like for your child, we'd like to invite you to contact us. We're enrolling for next year, and we'd be happy to send your family an application. God has truly blessed our school, and we'd love to include your children and family in on those blessings. You'd have to be hiding under a rock to miss all of the buzz about the Common Core state tests that are happening in New York this week and next week. Many parents have chosen to opt their children out of these tests, and they have a variety of reasons for doing so.
For some, they don't believe the curriculum is appropriate, and so they are making a political statement by not allowing their children to sit for the exams. Others have watched their children stress over their Common Core math all year long, and they don't want to put them under the pressure by making them take the tests. No matter what the reasons are, if you're a parent who has opted your child out of Common Core tests, you might be wondering if there is another alternative. There is. Foundations Christian School offers your child a solid, Christian education without a need for concern about Common Core. Many of our students have actually taken state exams and have passed them without a problem. Some have even tested well into the next few grade levels. That's because we have a different approach to education. We provide a Christian atmosphere that strives to be as stress-free as possible. We would love to offer your child the same opportunity our students have had for two years. If you would like more information about Foundations Christian School in Big Flats, we would love to hear from you. Please contact us! Here at Foundations Christian School, we're really excited because our next fundraiser is starting!
You've probably seen those coupon books some of the schools sell, and perhaps you've even bought some in the past. The problem with coupon books is that they're bulky and they're not very convenient. We've found something even better. America's Freedom Card is a savings and discount card that works nationwide. There are plenty of businesses to choose from, including restaurants, hotels and even auto mechanics. The best part is that if you have a smart phone, you can just add the app to your phone and leave your card at home. How convenient is that?! These cards are only $10 and they're good for an entire year! That means they more than pay for themselves. If you're interested in picking up one or more cards for you and your family, please leave a comment on this post, or contact your favorite Foundations Christian School student or staff member. We will be more than happy to set you up with some real savings. After all, you're going to eat out, you're going to need to stay in a hotel, and you're going to get your oil changed, right? You might as well save money while you're at it! If you'd like more information about this fundraiser, or about enrolling your child in Foundations Christian School for next year, please contact us today! Here in snowy upstate New York, we've had ENOUGH ALREADY!!!
Sometimes it seems as though the snow will never end. Unless of course you count the sleet, the slush and any variant of precipitation that falls from the sky during this time of year. Still, here we are in March, and spring has to be around the corner, right? Right? If your kids have spring fever like mine do, getting them to sit still for just a few minutes inside is a chore all its own. Today I'd like to help you put some of their energy to good use with a few helpful tips. 1. Spring Cleaning - OK, this might sound like it's more your thing than theirs, but who says cleaning has to be a parent's job only? Get your kids involved in spring cleaning and you'll accomplish several things. You'll help them get rid of some of that excess energy, you'll get some work done, and you can have fun doing it. Turn cleaning into a challenge or a race. Play some loud worship music while you clean. Anything goes, as long as there's ice cream afterwards. 2. Plan Some Spring Outings - Once the warm weather does come, how much time do you spend planning the activities you'd like to do together? If you're like most families, planning can take a bit of time. Why not make good use of your indoor time right now and start planning ahead? Sit down and talk with your kids about what they would like to do when the weather is warm. Whether they're eager to go to the community pool as much as possible, or they want to play volleyball in the backyard, make a list of everything. You can even post it on a big piece of poster board and then cross off each item as you do it. They'll love the anticipation! 3. Host a Wii Tournament - Do you have some friends with kids who are just as unsettled about the continuing snow as you are? Why not invite them over for a friendly Wii tournament? There are plenty of games out there that you and the kids will love playing. You can do a potluck dinner or just order a pizza. They'll get the stimulation they need and you'll get a dose of the adult conversation that you need. What else can you think of for your kids to do until spring finally arrives? We'd love to hear it! If you're interested in learning more about Foundations Christian School, please contact us! If you're a Christian parent, you're probably very concerned about the type of education your kids are receiving in public schools. Now more than ever, and since the Common Core was implemented, more and more parents are expressing their disapproval of public schools, and for good reasons!
In 2013, we opened our doors at Foundations Christian School to provide parents with an option that would allow them a place to educate their kids without having to worry about Common Core. In 2014, we relocated to Big Flats, and we've seen our enrollment go up. More and more families are embracing a Christian education for their kids because it benefits the entire family. Perhaps you've been thinking about talking to someone about Christian school, but you just weren't sure who to talk to. If that's the case, we'd like to invite you to contact us. Our enrollment for this school year is closed. However, we are actively enrolling for the 2015-2016 school year already! It's amazing how fast time flies, but it won't be long and we'll be welcoming new faces into Foundations Christian School once more. Big Flats Wesleyan Church have invited us to stay on for another year, which is very exciting. All that's missing is you and your child! If you'd like more information about how a Christian education at Foundations Christian School can work for your children, please contact us. We'd love to talk with you, answer any questions you might have, and even set up a time for you to see the school. Making the right decision for your children's education is important. We'd love to be a part of the process. Please Join Us on Friday, January 30, 2015 for our Open House and Winter Concert!
Mrs. Alo has been working very hard with all of the kids at Foundations Christian School in Big Flats, NY, and this is an event you won't want to miss! The evening will begin at 6:30 with an Open House. This is the perfect time for you to come and talk with your children's teachers and check out any projects they've been working on in class. If you're thinking about enrolling your kids in the school, this is a great event for you too! You can take a look inside of our classrooms, talk with our staff, and get all of your questions answered. At 7:30, we'll begin our Winter Concert, and the kids have been preparing something really special for this night. We hope you'll join us! If you have questions about Foundations Christian School, we'd love to hear from you. Please contact us! In case you haven't heard, we're excited to welcome some new teachers to Foundations Christian School!
The months of December and January were quite busy for us, and we made some pretty big changes. We bid farewell to Mrs. Maynard as a full-time teacher for our older students, and we redesigned our classroom structure quite a bit. Preschool is now separate, and our teacher, Miss Sherri is doing a wonderful job with them! Miss Emma now oversees Kindergarten, first grade and second grade. She has her hands full, and her kids just love her. Miss Cassandra is the new teacher for our third through eighth grade students. This is a new experience for her, but she's doing a great job! We are so fortunate and blessed to have these amazing women as a part of the staff at Foundations Christian School. If you'd like more information on what we can do to offer your children a quality, Christian education, please contact us! We're going to be accepting enrollments for the 2015-2016 school year very soon! |
Our goal is for this blog to be informative, entertaining and fun for parents and anyone who is interested in learning more about Foundations Christian School. Thanks for reading! Archives
